You might remember, my birthday was back at the end of May and my sis-in-law, Steph, and her fiance, Robbie, had the BEST idea for a present for me – they offered to wrap my bike!
You’re probably thinking “wrap?” Huh? How do you “wrap” a bike?
Well, Robbie is a graphic designer and mostly does vehicle wraps – you know those promotional company vehicles or buses with ads all over them – yea, that’s what he does and that’s what we did to my bike (on a much smaller scale!).
Of course, I began thinking about the design right away… while not a graphic designer by trade myself, I am sometimes known as one around the office and take pride in my skills (though I’m totes jelly of Robbie!). At first, I leaned towards a totally Hokie bike, but that wouldn’t match my pink wheels and green bar tape. I decided it was something I wanted to have for a while, so it needed to be good.
I also wanted to cover up most of my bike’s current branding. I know my little Scattante is nothing to be ashamed of, but having the “store-brand” name stamped on the side of my bike always leaves me with bike-envy after group rides…
We ended up sticking with the pink and green theme with a few Hokie accents. For “branding,” we rebranded it to look like a Felt bike, but it’s actually a Feltis! Here’s the evolution…
What a transformation!? I love it! I can’t wait for my next group ride and to show it off in Louisville! And I can’t thank Steph and Robbie enough for coming up with the idea and executing it so perfectly! I think this really speaks to the awesome support system I have, which is the main reason I’m able to train for and participate in this crazy event. Thank you guys!
Do you want to ride my bicycle?
If not, maybe you would enjoy this guy’s bubble wrap bike!
