It’s the Holiday Season
With the whoop-de-do and hickory dock
And don’t forget to hang up your sock
Are those some of the most inspired holiday lyrics?! Well, at least they crack me up. Either way, it IS the holiday season and Christmas is just one week away – that’s right let the shopping countdown begin!!! But that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to talk about some fun decorations that answer the questions “what do I do with all these race bibs?” “what about all these finisher/place medals?” and ultimately help you to look back over the past year/years to see all that you’ve accomplished!
Every year, I make a brand new race bib garland. I take about 30 bibs from our favorite/most significant races and string them between red and green ribbon and Christmas balls. While, I could reuse this from year-to-year, it’s really fun to pull out the stack of bibs from the year and remember all the races, all the PRs, etc. Once the old garland is disassembled and the new one is made, I go ahead and discard any that are not significant and get ready to create a new stack of the next year’s bibs!
This year, I also decided to celebrate an outstanding race season – which for me included 9 triathlons (age group placements in each), 2 half marathons, the CRBR, and a few local 5ks – by using medals as ornaments! Check it out!
